vigor in a zipper

film (2024), live performance (2024, 2025) & published research (2025)

Through a poetic lens, vigor in a zipper expands our understanding of time displacement within interdisciplinary practices of dance-technology. The project provides an alternative perspective from utopic world-making strategies by investigating the present, complex, and vulnerable experiences that are often threaded within diaspora, institutional training, and epigenetic trauma. The film reveals that these gaps in time offer a place to listen deeply to the gritty rhythms of slow, intuitive practice as basic human needs. Liaw repositions time displacement as an act of erosion and transition, retracing how this change in perspective creates room for relief apart from the rapid societal agenda.
